The Journey to Launch: A Reluctant Founder’s Documentary Series
I was featured in my first press release as the founder of Cinesparq but this isn’t about that (I did link to the release at the end of this message though).
This is me accepting the call to action LOL. For weeks I've been wracking my brain (and running from this) trying to figure out what to share, what to keep private, what might be TMI, what could turn you off. If you know me, I like to sit quietly and build cool stuff. All this other stuff is not quite my thing TBH but...
Finally, as a filmmaking mentor who is always teaching my clients the importance of sharing the journey, I decided to eat my own dog food and I'm sharing this "great" news with you first.
My only reluctance comes from my fear that I'll let you down somehow but I realized I can't let that limiting belief stop me from trying my best right? So what am I about to share...
A scrappy, honest record of the real work behind bringing CineSparq to life.
No film crew. No filters. Just me, my phone, my thoughts, my lessons, and the moments in between.
Because I want to show what it actually takes to build something that could change the way we all create, collaborate, and move our stories forward.
Why I’m Doing This
Everywhere you look, you see big-screen deals, reboots, and new film and TV projects that seem to come out of nowhere, suddenly showing up everywhere while you’re still trying to figure out how to get your story off the ground.
You scroll past announcements and think, how did they get that made?
You feel inspired but also frustrated because it seems like everyone else has access to something you don’t. Maybe the right team, the right investors, the right connections, the right moment.
But what you don’t see are the messy middle moments.
The doubts. The pivots. The late nights.
The faith it takes to keep moving when the plan looks impossible.
That’s the story I’m telling.
Because the same things I’m living through right now from funding challenges and investor talks to audience building, the rejection, and resilience, are the same things you’ll face when you’re building something from scratch too.
This journey is the curriculum. I’m just living it in real time.
I’m building the ladder while I climb, documenting each step, and reaching back to bring others with me.
Because if we only show the success, nobody ever learns how to build it for themselves.
What I’m Building
Using a Simple Brand-Building Strategy
I’m documenting the launch of CineSparq using the same simple brand-building strategy I teach inside The Fundable Filmmaker Framework.
It’s the process of building visibility, trust, and connection while you’re creating — so when it’s time to fund, your audience and investors already believe in the story you’re telling.
This journey will unfold across multiple platforms:
- YouTube: home of my full documentary series of building CineSparq from scratch
- Newsletter: where I share deeper insights, reflections, and behind-the-scenes lessons
- Social media: real-time updates, clips, and conversations on LinkedIn, Threads, and TikTok
My goal and intent isn’t to show off a finished product. I really want you share the process and journey with you.
Because when you see it happen step by step, you’ll understand how to apply the same strategy to your own creative brand or project.
And by the time the platform officially launches, you won’t just be inspired, you’ll be ready.
Ready with projects to share.
Ready to connect with waiting funders.
Ready to move from dream to greenlight.
The Raw, Unfiltered Reality
What makes this different is that I’m not pretending I have it all figured out.
You’ll see me:
- Filming in real time, often from wherever I am; no studio, no fancy lighting just truth, even if I'm looking a hot mess.
- Setting up accounts and systems from zero
- Testing what works and pivoting when it doesn’t
- Using the same creative and business tools that are available to anyone
- Sharing the lessons, the breakdowns, and the breakthroughs as they happen
In one of my first videos, I literally sat in my car after a long day and mapped out how I’d launch this thing with what I already have, no team, no fancy camera, just my phone and a WHOLE lot of faith.
Why You Should Follow This Journey
Because this is what creative independence really looks like.
If you’ve ever dreamed of producing your own work, building your own platform, or finally taking control of your next chapter, this series will show you the reality behind the highlight reel.
It’s proof that:
🎥 You don’t need permission
🎥 You don’t need perfection
🎥 You just need persistence and belief when no one’s clapping yet
We’re all figuring it out as we go. I’m just choosing to turn the camera on while I do it.
