The Sparq: If 2025 wasn’t your year, here’s how you fix 2026

A weekly note from Eunice — founder, filmmaker, builder
Hey Reader,
If you’re reading this as you transition out of a long weekend and back into work mode, sowwy 😔
While many people were relaxing, last week gave me one of those rare moments where the shift in the industry aligned with the shift happening in me and in our creative community. So yes, I was working in between cooking, enjoying some family, and missing others.
That's the journey. And even with the sacrifices, the path forward this week felt like a moment of synchronicity calling me to move.
Here is what we are covering:
CEO Story: CineSparq 1.0 development + the Sparq Accelerator opens Jan 1
Industry Pulse: Why being “just a writer” is getting harder
Sparq Wire: Investor and film commission interviews begin
Opportunity of the Week: Cyber Monday deal on Fundable Filmmaker
BTS of CineSparq Platform
CineSparq 1.0 is officially in development!
This is the first real build of the platform! We've had functional mockups for almost a year but finally, we're building the foundation that will support everything we create next. And I'm prioritizing the features you told me mattered most in the survey:
protecting your intellectual property
understanding what investors really want
balancing the art and business of filmmaking
giving creators a clear path to readiness
Cross-industry Initiative
And as we move into this phase, I’ve also started connecting with several key people across the industry for a first of it's kind initiative that could really be a game changer.
We need your voice
But for now I still want to hear directly from you.
Filmmaker interviews have officially begun. If you haven’t scheduled your session yet and want your experience to help shape what we build next...
The industry has been quietly shifting away from writing as a purist craft. Between shifts in talent, the times, and technology, we're seeing more multi-hyphenates emerge as it becomes harder to sustain "writer" status as a long-term path. Not because writers aren’t talented, but because the industry rewards storytellers who can execute the vision, not just put it on the page.
It’s the same pattern we saw with Ryan Coogler, Ava DuVernay, Greta Gerwig, Donald Glover, Phoebe Waller-Bridge… All writers. All unwilling to stay in a single box.
And this moment is creating a quiet but powerful
Opportunity for You
If you’ve been feeling the nudge to step into producing or directing, even if you’re not sure how to begin it's time to take the leap! The market is leaning toward creators who can lead project execution, even at a small scale.
Last week I shared how SAG-AFTRA has blessed verticals as a project type. This tells us that vertical filmmaking isn’t just a trend, and it’s not just a change in aspect ratio. It’s an entire audience and distribution system that’s built for creators who want to:
test ideas quickly
build a directing portfolio
learn their audience’s taste in real time
grow momentum without a massive budget
The way I see it, we have an advantage over rigid studio systems because verticals are best created with small teams, tight scope and a clear vision. This makes them the perfect starting point for beginners, indie filmmakers and those who have a good sense of who they want to watch, share and support their projects.
And while I don't believe verticals will replace traditional filmmaking (at least I hope they won't) they can accelerate your path to success if done well.
This isn’t the end of cinema. It’s an entry point back into it.
It Takes More Than Vision
This week has been full both professionally and personally, and it brought a kind of clarity I didn’t expect.
As I started the first phase of development for CineSparq, I found myself leaning heavily on the part of my past I don’t talk about often: my years in business analysis. That work taught me how to define requirements clearly, translate needs into systems, and anticipate how different people will interact with what we build.
And as I sat with the pieces of CineSparq, all shaped directly from your survey feedback, I felt grateful. Grateful for the experience that prepared me. Grateful for the honesty you shared. Grateful that we get to build something aligned with real needs, not assumptions.
And then something even more grounding happened:
I got to see my son, who lives in Dubai, for the first time in a year.
Me with Son Latif, Dubai 2024
That reunion reminded me that building anything powerful requires more than vision. Founders and creatives need support, family and discipline. We also people who believe in us when the work gets heavy and the dream gets bigger than we imagined.
The start of development, the clarity from you, and the joy of reconnecting with my son all felt like confirmation that my past, present, and future are converging in a powerful way. And I’m carrying all of that into what we’re building next.
Filmmaker Opportunities
If you want to step into 2026 with clarity, momentum, and a real plan for packaging your project, I want to make that easier for you.
A lot of creators told me this year felt heavier than expected. You made progress, but maybe not the kind that moved things forward the way you hoped. And if that sounds familiar, this is a powerful moment to reset your foundation so the work you do next actually leads somewhere.
That is why I created Fundable Filmmaker.
It is the course that shows you how to shape your idea into an investor-friendly project without feeling overwhelmed or confused. It gives you clarity, structure, and a direction you can use immediately, not someday.
And then today, something happened that confirmed exactly why this matters.
A filmmaker reached out asking for the very things this program was designed to help with.

I don’t do “Cyber Monday” just to do it, but I know this is something you’ve been asking for. So for the next few days only:
$10 off the Fundable Filmmaker course Price: less than a pair of jeans Code: SPARQ10 Limited to the first 25 people. Ends Saturday, December 6.
You will come away finally understanding what it takes to align your creativity to audiences that can't wait to watch, share and support your vision. No more guessing, stalling, or hoping funders say say YES to your dreams.
Imagine the power of knowing exactly what to prepare, what to avoid, and how to position your story for real opportunities.
I’ll admit it. I am great at creating programs, but I don’t always slow down enough to market them. So if this is your first time hearing about The Fundable Filmmaker, thank you for your patience.
If this year stretched you, slowed you down, or made you question your path, give yourself what I call graceful accountability. You’re still here, still dreaming, still building and that's REAL!
The work matters, and accepting where you are while continuing to do your best matters too.
Success doesn’t always announce itself with fireworks. Sometimes it shows up as a quiet moment where you realize things are aligning, a little synchronicity, steady progress, and one brave next step.
TL;DR
